🏺 Craftsmanship & Materials
What is the Lost-Wax casting method?
The Lost-Wax method (also called cire perdue) is a 5,000-year-old bronze casting technique. Each sculpture begins as a hand-sculpted wax model, which is encased in ceramic and heated — melting the wax away and leaving a precise mold. Molten bronze is then poured in, cooled, and hand-finished by our master artisans in a 32-step process. The result is a museum-grade sculpture with extraordinary surface detail that cannot be achieved by machine casting.
What materials are your sculptures made from?
Our sculptures are cast from 100% solid pure bronze (an alloy of copper and tin). Some pieces use solid brass (copper and zinc). We never use resin, hollow cast, or painted imitations. Each piece is genuinely heavy — you will feel the difference immediately upon holding it.
Why does my sculpture look slightly different from the photos?
Because every piece is individually hand-cast and hand-patinated, minor variations in color tone, surface texture, and finishing are completely normal and expected. These variations are not defects — they are the hallmark of authentic artisanal bronze art. No two pieces are ever completely identical, which is part of what makes each one uniquely yours.
What is patina and can I choose the color?
Patina is the colored surface finish applied to bronze through chemical treatment and heat. Common finishes include classic dark bronze, verdigris green, gold leaf, royal blue, red-brown, and black. Most of our products offer multiple patina options at checkout. For custom orders, we can create virtually any patina color to your specification — contact us to discuss.
Where are your sculptures made?
All our sculptures are made at our own foundry in Tianjiazhuang, Quyang County, Hebei Province, China — the region known as the "hometown of sculpture" with over 1,500 years of stone and bronze carving heritage. We are a foundry-direct operation with 40 years of master craftsmanship heritage, which means no middlemen and no markups.

What is the custom order process?
The process typically involves: (1) Initial consultation and design brief; (2) Clay model creation and your written approval; (3) Bronze casting only begins after your confirmation; (4) Hand-finishing and patina application; (5) Photographed quality inspection; (6) Secure shipping to your door. Timeline varies by complexity — typically 4–12 weeks.
Can I request a specific size, patina color, or artist signature?
Absolutely. We offer full customization of size, patina color, base material, and can include personalized artist signatures or custom engravings. Contact us at youfinechao@gmail.com with your requirements and we will provide a tailored quote.
Are custom orders refundable?
Custom orders are non-refundable once the clay model is confirmed and casting has commenced, as each piece is uniquely made for you. However, if the finished piece arrives damaged or significantly deviates from the confirmed design, you are fully eligible for a free replacement or full refund.
✨ Care, Display & Maintenance
How do I care for my bronze sculpture?
Bronze is an extremely durable material that improves with age. For routine maintenance, simply dust with a soft dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive materials. For indoor pieces, applying a thin coat of natural beeswax or Renaissance Wax every 6–12 months will protect the patina and maintain the luster. Never use steel wool or wire brushes.
Can bronze sculptures be displayed outdoors?
Yes — bronze is one of the most weather-resistant art materials available. Many of our life-size garden and estate sculptures are designed for permanent outdoor display. Over time, outdoor bronze naturally develops a deeper patina which many collectors consider more beautiful. Applying an outdoor-specific bronze wax sealant annually will extend the life of the original patina finish.
Will the patina color change over time?
Indoor sculptures retain their original patina color almost indefinitely with basic care. Outdoor sculptures naturally darken and develop additional green verdigris tones over years of weathering — this is completely normal and considered artistically desirable. The underlying bronze remains structurally intact for centuries.
How heavy are your sculptures? Do I need special mounting?
Solid bronze is significantly heavier than it appears. Tabletop pieces typically range from 2–20lbs. Life-size garden sculptures can exceed 100lbs. Most pieces come with an integrated base (marble, wood, or bronze) for stable self-standing display. For wall-mounted or elevated installations, we recommend consulting a professional installer. Contact us if you need specific weight data for a piece.
